Born in 1872 in Pleasanton, KS, Dr. Walter Leon Tucker was an
author, editor, publisher, evangelist, lecturer, professor,
hymnist and pastor.
Tucker studied at Bible Training School (Kansas City) and Moody
Bible Institute (Chicago), and served on the faculty of the Los
Angeles Bible Institute (1910-1913).
He pastored in Belton, Mount Pleasant and Kansas City, MO at
First Baptist Church of Riverside, CA, and Calvary Church in Los
Angeles. He was editor of Serial Bible Course magazine
(later renamed Wonderful Word), president of
Tucker-Hadden Union Bible Classes and Correspondence Course, and
publisher of Wonderful Word Publishing (a.k.a. The Book Stall
(Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY).
Among his associates were D. Paul Rader, Louis Talbot, Robert A.
Hadden, James M. Gray, Lewis Sperry Chafer, W.H. Griffith-Thomas
and Harry Rimmer. His ministry was known for its strong
dispensational teaching (early Acts) and emphasis on the
believer’s identification with Christ. |
