Q: What did Jesus mean when He said, “…from him shall be taken even that which he hath”? Let us read verse 24 as well as 25 in the RSV, “And he said to them, ‘Take heed what you hear; the measure you give will be the measure you get, and still more will be given you. For to him who has will more be given; and from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.’” A: I believe that in this, another parable of the kingdom, Jesus is speaking of spiritual blessings: those who had received blessings from Jesus would receive more in the coming kingdom, and even as they blessed others, their own blessings would increase. But for an unbeliever, who has gained no blessing, even what he has physically, as a Jew, will be taken away in the kingdom to come on earth.
